Liturgical Ministries

Altar Servers

This ministry is for boys and girls who are in grades 5 - 12.  Altar servers must be baptized Catholic, have celebrated their First Eucharist, attend Mass regularly, and have their parents support.

Bereavement Team

This ministry works with the Pastor as part of the funeral service.  Members may be asked to help with ushering, lectoring, presentation of the gifts, and finding/serving as Eucharistic ministers.

Eucharistic Ministers

This ministry offers three opportunities to serve:
During Mass - Distributing the Eucharist during Mass
Retirement Homes - Taking the Eucharist to the residents of Autumn Winds and/or Silver Tree
Homebound - Taking the Eucharist to the homebound in our community

Ladies Altar Society (Good Shepherd)

The mission of this ministry is to provide and maintain a beautiful altar, tabernacle, and church environment to honor the presence of Our Lord and to welcome those who come to worship Him.  Gentlemen are welcomed, especially during the busy liturgical seasons, to help with the church environment.

Members of this ministry share the Liturgy of the Word at Mass.  Lectors must have celebrated their Confirmation, have a strong and clear voice, and have a desire to proclaim clearly, reverently, and in a way that helps facilitate the public prayer of the Church in the Liturgy of the Word.

Music Ministry

There are numerous opportunities to participate in music ministry, through singing, cantoring, or playing an instrument.  Practice is usually one hour before Mass, with additional practices as noted:

Tapestry choir (5:30 PM/Saturday) - one hour before Mass
Knights of Columbus choir (8:00 AM/third Sunday) - one hour before Mass
ACTS choir - as needed
8:00 choir - 7:00 PM on Thursdays and/or 7:00 AM on Sundays
11:30 choir - 7:00-8:30 PM on Tuesdays
Children's choir (11:30 AM/second Sunday) - as needed
3-in-1 Youth Band - as needed

The purpose of this ministry is to open and close the church and prepare and clean the altar before and after the celebration of the Mass on Sundays, Holy Days, and special occasions.  Sacristans must be at least 18 years old, dependable, and have already celebrated their Confirmation.

Ushers provide a sense of hospitality, welcome, and order to the liturgical celebration.  As the initial point of contact for people enterig the church, the ushers set the tone for the liturgy with their welcoming smiles and greetings.  Responsibilities include seating people in church, receiving offertory/second collection contributions, advising Eucharistic Ministers of anyone with special needs who needs distribution of Communion, distributing bulletins after Mass, and checking the overall tidiness of the church before each Mass.
